Question 1

How do I quit vaping?

Accepted Answer

Start by choosing your approach: stop in one go (cold turkey) or cut down vaping gradually. Then take cravings 90 seconds at a time rather than worrying about for ever. Get to know your triggers, such as places, times and people, so they are less of a surprise. For extra support, talk to your GP or pharmacist, or visit NHS Better Health.

Question 2

What helps with vape cravings?

Accepted Answer

Something to do in the moment. Many people find a nicotine craving rises and then fades within a few minutes, so a short distraction can help: a quick brain game, something for your hands, a few slow breaths or a change of scene. That’s what the Craving button in snub. is for. Knowing when cravings usually hit helps too, so you can plan ahead.

Question 3

Is snub. really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. 100% free. No ads, no subscriptions and no paywalls. Every feature is for everyone.

Question 4

Why is snub. free?

Accepted Answer

snub. is part of Vape Guardian, an organisation that works with schools and other spaces across the UK to help people stop vaping and to educate them about the downsides of vaping. snub. is how we support people directly, so there are no subscriptions, no paywalls and no ads. It’s free, and it’s staying free.

Question 5

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

No. There’s no sign-up and no account to create. You don’t need to give us your name, email address or phone number.

Question 6

Where is my data stored?

Accepted Answer

Your cravings, vapes, triggers, plan and settings are stored only on your phone. We have no servers that hold them. The app uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous event counts to help us improve it — never your logs, free text or locations.

Question 7

Why does snub. ask for location, and do I need it?

Accepted Answer

You don’t need it. Location is optional and off unless you turn it on. It helps snub. spot places where cravings often happen and give you arrival heads-ups. Positions are rounded to about 100 metres and never leave your device. You can turn it off or forget places at any time.

Question 8

Why does it ask for notifications?

Accepted Answer

Notifications let snub. give you a heads-up at tricky times, or when you arrive at a tricky place if you’ve turned location on. They’re scheduled on your phone, not sent by a push server. They’re optional.

Question 9

How do I add the lock-screen widget?

Accepted Answer

On iPhone: long-press the lock screen, choose Customise, then Lock Screen. Tap the widget area and choose snub. The widget never says what it’s for.

Question 10

What is discreet mode?

Accepted Answer

Discreet mode keeps things low-key. It makes the app’s presentation more subtle, so your quit-vaping journey can stay your business.

Question 11

I slipped up. Does my progress reset?

Accepted Answer

No. snub. never resets you to zero. A slip is one moment, not the whole story. Your progress still counts — just take the next step when you’re ready.

Question 12

How do I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Use Reset in the app, or delete the app from your phone. This deletes your stored cravings, vapes, triggers, plan and settings. You can also forget saved places or turn location off at any time.

Question 13

Is snub. medical advice?

Accepted Answer

No. snub. is not medical advice. For extra support, talk to your GP or pharmacist, or visit NHS Better Health.
